How To Updating Shopify DNS Records in WHM

🛒 Updating Shopify DNS Records in WHM

Shopify requires two main DNS changes:

  • A Record → Point the root domain (domain.com) to Shopify’s IP:

    23.227.38.65
  • CNAME Record → Point the subdomain (www.domain.com) to:

    shops.myshopify.com

🔹 Steps in WHM

1. Log in to WHM

Open your WHM at:

https://server-ip:2087

2. Open DNS Zone Manager

  • Navigate to:
WHM » DNS Functions » Edit DNS Zone

  • Select the domain you want to connect to Shopify.

3. Update the A Record

  • Find the A record for your root domain (domain.com).

  • Change its IP address to:

23.227.38.65

👉 If no A record exists, create one.

4. Update the CNAME Record

  • Look for the CNAME entry for www.

  • If one already exists (e.g., pointing to your server), delete it first.

  • Add a new CNAME record for www

shops.myshopify.com

5. Save Changes

Click Save or Update Zone to apply DNS changes.

6. Propagation

DNS changes may take up to 24–48 hours to fully propagate worldwide, though often much faster.

✅ At this point, visiting either:

  • domain.com → goes to Shopify store via A record

  • www.domain.com → goes to Shopify store via CNAME

⚠️ Important Note:
If you remove or misconfigure these records, your Shopify store will not resolve from your custom domain.
